News:  May 31 2023 The Georgia Fats guitarist Joël Fafard suffered a sever stroke that left him paralysed on the left side, Joël has been recovering and doing therapy ever since. Fafard has remained unable to play guitar but along with his recovery Fafard began to learn the harmonica. Now in 2025 The Georgia Fats have resumed jamming again with Joe Stanton on the guitar and sharing vocals.

Gritty, Greasy and Groovy… the 3G’s of The Georgia Fats. The Georgia Fats transform the vintage sounds of blues, rock, old country and gospel into a hard-driving sound designed to get people moving.

Barry Taylor is best known as the beat-keeper for one of Canada’s best party bands, Roots Round Up.  And he was a pioneer in the first wave of punk back in the 70s as a founding member of The Young Canadians.  

Boyd Norman has held down the bottom line for Ron Hynes, Barkin’ Kettle and the Rakish Angles. 

Joël Fafard, on guitar and vocals, is a Juno-nominated and Western Canadian Music Award-winning artist who has travelled worldwide performing blues slide guitar. After suffering a massive stroke,  Joël is recovering and making music once again on Harmonica and Vocals.

Joe Stanton joins The Georgia Fats adding an Earthy Country edge with his warm and vibrant voice and formidable guitar skills. Joe brings a wealth of great songs to The Fats. Stanton was a finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk songwriting contest.
